We traveled Jan 1-16 in 2004 and it was cold in Beijing (20's), a bit warmer but still pretty chilly in Hunan (40-50's and raining) and then 60's-70's in Guangzhou.Marlahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13619637166948663322noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15281662.post-45501104927389594432007-12-09T06:08:00.000-05:002007-12-09T06:08:00.000-05:00I have no idea about travelling in China (looking ...I have no idea about travelling in China (looking forward to your posts!!!) You might get a couple of 40 degree days, but for the most part plan on 60-70 degrees.

The layering is a good idea as well. T-shirts don't take up much room and if Abby has stomach distress you will be thankful for a quick change.

The Uggs, while comfortable, may be a bit warm as well. My favorite running errand shoes are those non-gender slip on shoes with the rubber non-slip treads. I'll be wearing them out today and we rec'd 20+ inches of snow this past week. yeah, it's gonna be a long winter, but the firewood is stacked and the wine rack stocked. Bring it on Lake Effect Snow machine.

How exciting is all this??? You'll be very hot if you plan to wear the clothes you listed when you're in Guangzhou. I only took tennis shoes, and I opted for cotton shirts (like turtle necks or mock turtle necks). I had a baby carrier for Chloe, and I wanted to snuggle with her a lot, so I figured that fuzzy sweaters would get too hot too fast. If you have the jacket from your sweatsuit, you'll be able to layer, so I really wouldn't take the sweaters at all, or the boots either. Of course, if you're worried about being really cold (like in Beijing), then plan on thick socks, and the long underwear idea. Your long underwear could double for pajamas, if you need a second pair, but I'd say you're good with just one set. Pack LIGHT. You'll need luggage space. I have my packing list, if you're interested. (I'm getting too longwinded.) Just drop me a comment on my blog, and I can send it to you. You'll be better off if you just plan to have your laundry done for you in China--there are so many places that do it, and it's not expensive at all. Bring some capris and a short sleeved shirt for Guangzhou if you run hot. I'm always cold, so I was still OK with jeans and longsleeved shirts. Hope that helps! I'm so excited that you get to go soon!
