Diapers
I bought a pack of diapers tonight for Abby. The FIRST ones that I have ever purchased for her. By reading other families blogs I noted that size 2 or 3 seems to be the average size the babies are wearing at the time of adoption. I wanted to see how small the diaper actually is. My message boards are full of people talking about how they are buying their diapers now while they wait for their babies referrals. I'm not sure what I am going to do. It does sound like a good idea to stock up now but on the otherhand What if I am referred a older baby and the diapers that I had prepurchased don't fit her. I don't think I would be able to exchange them. Maybe I will just start up a diaper piggybank now instead ........

Maybe you could just buy *some*, not too many. If your daughter is older or bigger, maybe donate the diapers to a women's shelter or something?
I think the diaper piggybank sounds like a great idea:)

Hi, I found your blog late last night through one of those giant mazes of connected adoption blogs. :) And I was so drawn in that I had to save the address so I could go back and read your journey today!
My name is also Abby and I'm so enchanted with the fact that you're going to be a single mom through adoption! I'm only a college kid right now, but I plan on doing (domestic) foster care & adoption once I get my life settled after graduation...and most likely as a single woman as well.
If you don't mind, I look forward to reading about your progress through this adventure to get your daughter. It's rare to find a woman who isn't afraid to do it on her own! Good luck.
I think collecting right now is a great idea... If you look on the packaging it says between a certain weight.... I think about every baby will either become quickly or is already the weight for size 2.... I would go with that size cause you can always buy smaller... Being single I need to stock up on things now that will be more of a burden when I have to pay for daycare, etc.... Oh, sign up for formula also... You get free $20.00 cans and if you don't use them you can always donate to the local food bank or homeless shelter...

Hi Jenny ~
I am positive you can return the unopened boxes of diapers to the store - especially Wal-Mart, Cosco, Sam's Club. Even if you don't have a receipt, they will take them back for store credit.
Alison, Bama and I are still looking for the "perfect square" of material for your wish quilt. Uncle Terry found his and will be sending it soon.
Love,
Debbie
