Rash Update

Thank you everyone for your opinions and concern. Sorry we left everyone hanging. Abby is better today. She only woke up once last night and I brought her into my bed where she slept the rest of the night until she woke at 630 am (OUCH). She is in good spirits and I really can't even see the rash on her legs anymore. It is still on her face but appears less and much more lighter. I gave her benadryl this morning and tonight at bedtime but there has been minimal scratching. I also skipped her bath tonight since it seemed to bother her last night. Everything points to the mmr shot. Evidently if it is going to happen (the rash) it happens about now but can appear up to 30 days after the shot. There is no treatment for it. You just wait it out and it fades away over several days. Here is a picture of her tonight before bed. See she looks much better :) (She looks so serious cuz she is watching a new Little Einstein Video.)
Also I always hold her before bed and give her a bottle. I just put her down to snap the photo.

I did call her pediatricians office today. I was on hold for at least 20 minutes before I got to speak with an actual person. It was the receptionist. She took a message to have the triage nurse call me back an let me know if I needed to bring her in or not. That was at 130 PM. They called back at 530 PM and somehow I missed it. They left me a number to call for the on call nurse after telling me that it was more then likely the mmr shot. So I call it and get a recording. First it tells me to pick my insurance and press that number, then to enter my number where I can be reached, then for me to leave a detailed message regarding my question, and then it ends by telling me my insurance may be charged 10 dollars for the call but someone will call me back. I decided to hang up at that point. Abby is fine and has been checked out by my brother n law who is a GP MD. I will call again tomorrow (Office) and talk to the nurse to double check on if they want to see her. It really irks me that they were so hard to get in touch with tho. Maybe all peds offices are like that???

Anyhoo.... just to show you all that my baby is okay. I thought I would add this video to this post. I'll call it "Abby and the cat food". You can guess what is coming :0

After I turned off the camera she put her whole fist in the water bowl and was stirring her concoction. At least she didn't eat any.......

I must admit I have been checking periodically to see how miss Abby was doing. Thanks for the update. She looks great! What is the fascination with pet food? I have a video of Eliza getting into the dog food shortly after she came home. Funny and gross all at the same time!

So happy that Abby is feeling better.
As far as the pedi??
I think that was WAY too long to be waiting on the phone.
Then too maybe charge you for a phone call??
No, not all pedi's are like that.
I would let them know how difficult it was to get in touch with them.
Haven't seen the video because I am at work right now and cannot view videos on this computer, but be sure I will later today!
Hang in there Mommy! Your doing a great job!

Glad Abby is feeling better. How ridiculous that you can't speak to a real person at your doctor's office!

Glad Abby is feeling better. It urks me to no end how offices don't get back in touch before hours have passed. I used to work in an office for years as an RN and let me tell you.. that kind of call would have been dealth with immediately. UGh!

Glad no kitty food was munched upon! YUK

I would be worried about how long it took you to get in touch with a human at the doctor's office. Usually, I call and leave a message for the nurse that's on "phone duty" and they call me back within an hour to talk with me about Chloe's symptoms and whether or not I need to bring her in. (My old pediatrician AND the new one are both like that.) So, I'm with Gail...definitely let them know how long it took and find out if that's normal before you have something really serious where you need quicker advice. Just my two cents...

I forgot to mention...when I call my doctor's office they put me on hold and immediately ask a doctor and relay the message. If I have ever called after hours, the dr. on call calls me me back immediately...like 15 mins. I would talk to them about what their protocol is for something like that too.

I am glad Abby feels better, I didn't know the shot could cause a rash like that.

Natalie eats cat food if she can get her hands on it. That is why her hair is so shiny :) lol

You're going to be in trouble in the teens years. Seems she's got the ignoring you and doing her own thing down pat already. LOL!

Glad she's feeling better.

I love your kitty's expression. It seems to be thinking: "Man, if I could only give you a paw spanking right now I would but I'm sure your mommy will punish me for it"

My cats put up with Annalisa a lot. They are so patient!
