I have gotten so used to posting these milestones but I have to say that this Lidversary is the best one yet! Life is grand :) I still can't seem to get anything done though. I have a major concentration problem these days :) I have been trying to figure out what Abby's Chinese name Lin Ping An means. I know that Lin is her surname and more then likely the name of the director of Abby's SWI. I have been searching the Internet and have seen beautiful jade, Forrest and woods all as possible meanings for Lin. Ping, I have found in my searching is commonly used for females. Evidently it is considered feminine but the only meaning I have found is level? An has several different meanings such as peaceful, quiet, still, to pacify, rest, calm, and tranquil. I know I may well be totally off base with these meanings too. In my reading it seems like it is really important to actually see the Chinese characters and hear their tones when translating a Chinese name. We have a family friend who is Chinese but she is actually in China right now.
******* UPDATE
Okay I totally wasn't done with this post and I thought I had saved it as a draft. I was going to add that I received Abby's translated medical report today. She looks perfect! . It says that she is quiet, fond of listening to music, fond of playing with toys that make music, likes to watch TV, has a ready smile, is quick in reaction and is obstinate sometimes. It also says that she is closest to her caretaker, Her favorite toy is a wooden horse and her favorite activity is being held by her caretaker while she plays :)
*******
I finally return to real life again. I have to work tomorrow and Friday. I also wanted again just to thank you all for your comments, well wishes and e mails :) I have tried to respond back but I am sure that in all of the excitement I probably missed somebody. Truly though, Thank you from the bottom of my heart:) Your well wishes mean the world to me and I am saving them all for Abby :) * I will probably keep this song playing through the weekend :) Hope I don't irritate anyone away *

I'll have to check my computer at home...or do some Googling...but there is a website where you can look up the Chinese character and see the meaning of it. I'll get back to you when I've found it...
Hi Abby's mommy! I know what you mean with the name. My baby's name is Lu Ao which means road and pride.
I kept the Lu part and named her Amaya Lu Lin
I found Lin to mean forest and beautiful jade.
and I finally posted my pictures on my blog and figured out my technological difficulties. Can't wait for you to see her pics!

Hi Abby's Mom
My agency told me Amaya is 4 months old in her picture. How about Abby?
I did the same thing when we got our referral - I went scouting for what her name ment. Turns out that the characters mean a lot more than the sounds so you will hae to check with someone who can read the Chinese characters.
I got my referral a dy before my November 7th (2005) LID so we were a day short of the big 20. Funny, today would have been #24!

Okay I love that song. I might have to download on iTunes. You just go ahead and celebrate your rock star mommy moments while you can. You earned it!
Work? How not fun but think of all the poeple you can tell about YOUR daughter.
Ok, As Abbyu's meema, I just want to thank all of your for your support of Jenny throughout this incredibly long wait. In addition to our love and support, I don't think she would have ever survived this without your interest, love and support. Thank you Thank you Thank you! Sherry Mc (Jen's mom and Abby's Meema who absolutely cannot wait until she gets to hold her and plant a kiss on those sweet cheeks.

from one CHI mom to another - Best Wishes!
Your baby, your blog, your song. Rock on, Girl! I say keep it cranked for as long as you like. The song coupled with the gorgeous pics of Miss Abby just makes me smile.
Congrats!
I can tell you that Lin is the directors name. We got our Mia from the same orphanage and her name was Lin Yi Ting. Almost everyone in our group has the same Lin name.
I applaud on being able to handle almost a 2 year wait. It was all worth it.

Hi Abby's Mom!
I finally started my packing list tonight and I wanted to ask you if you are planning on bringing disposable or washable bottles with you and what brand. I read on a bunch of different lists to bring different nipple sizes and some people brought washable, some disposable. What do you think?
Also, how many outfits are you bringing? From what I read, it is recommended anywhere from 5-8 outfits and onesies. Okay limiting to 8 was hard but I did it!! :-)
Have a great weekend!
Amy

Do you think you'll have Abby by the 24th LID? How fantastic would that be?!!
I found this link, that I use quite often to find meanings etc.
http://www.mandarintools.com/chardict.html
Type the word "Ping" in the Pinyin box - and it'll spit out all the possible meanings, and gives you the chinese character (if you've got Abby's name written in Chinese, it should give you the exact meaning for that character)
I love "Ping" - coz it's the name Mulan chose as her soldier name!
Here I was thinking, I'd posted a useful link and Chinazhoumom beat me to it!!!
I love it! Have fun!
PS Abby's info sounds like a perfect match!
