I Love It!

I read this tonight on the yahoo APC message board. It was sent to someone else who had also experienced a delay.

"I promise that when you finally hold that sweet baby in your arms, you will be happy your paperchase was delayed so you ended up with THAT baby."

"One child rule"

I found these pictures while I was researching Chinas "One child rule". China is considered the most populous country in the world. Time magazines June 2005 issue puts Chinas population at 1.3 billion. In 1979 China was faced with a huge population explosion and worries of how to take care of and feed all of it's people. Chinas "one child rule" was inacted by the Chinese government at that time. Families that violated this policy risked being fined or worse. The picture above is of a billboard in China promoting this policy. China is also working to encourage families to keep their daughters instead of abandoning them in hopes of having a boy. The billboard in china below is an example of this.

Squeaky Shoes!!

I actually had this posted yesterday but I accidentally deleted it. I found this picture on another families blog site of their trip to China. Look at all of the shoes! I can't wait, I am definitely getting Abby's shoes in China. I have also herd that they are very inexpensive over there so I plan on getting lots of them. One interesting thing about these shoes is that they contain a squeaker in each heel. The idea being that each time the baby takes a step you hear a squeak. This is supposed to encourage your baby to walk plus you have the added bonus of knowing where your baby is. This squeaker can also be removed if it gets to annoying. :-D

Legacy of an Adopted child

Once there were two women, who never knew each other...
One you do not remember, the other you call mother...

Two different lives, shaped to make yours one...
One became your guiding star, one became your sun...

The first gave you life, and the second taught you to live it..
The first gave you need for love, and the second one was there to give it..

One gave you nationality, the other gave you a name...
One gave you talent, the other gave you aim...

One gave you emotions, the other calmed your fears....
One saw your first sweet smile, the other one dried your tears...

One gave you up....
It was all that she could do...

The other prayed for a child, and god led her straight to you...

And now you ask me through your tears, the age old questions through the years...

Heredity or enviroment.... Which are you a product of?

Neither, my darling.....neither, just two different kinds of love....

Red Thread Picture

This is one artists interpretation of the Red Thread Legend. A little Chinese girl holding on to a long red thread.

Today I hit a snag in my adoption journey. It seems my home study was done incorrectly as a result of a series of unfortunate events. What this means is that my social worker must either revise or possibly even redo my home study. Evidently she did not document some crucial information that is required by the CCAA (Chinese Center of Adoption Affairs). Unfortunately for me she is out of the country until September 26'th so I won't know until then what she will have to do.

This will most certainly delay my process. I was hoping to be DTC sometime in October . Now it is looking more like it will be December, Maybe November if I am really lucky. Once I am logged in I will have to wait 6 or 7 long months for Abby's referral. More then likely I won't actually be able to get her until August. That is my Birthday month also. I continue to believe that God has a plan for me that only he knows. I am confident that I will one day meet the baby that he has planned for me to have....

ARCHIVES

In talking to others who have checked out my blog, I have learned that many do not know how to view additional entrys. On the right below the links and recent entry titles you will see archives that are sorted by month. I started this blog in August. If you click the August archives link and scroll all the way down you will be able to see my first entry.

And more beautiful pictures of other children who have been adopted by VERY lucky parents. I can't help myself. I wonder what Abby will look like and what kind of person she will turn out to be....

PLEASE NEVER FORGET!

Today is a important day for remembering. It really makes me sad because although it has only been four years it seems that so many have forgotten the significance of that horrible day. I know I won't...... For all of the living and fallen heroes....For all of those who have lost loved ones..... And for everyone who feels the sadness of that day..... You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Squattie potties

In China western style toilets are not the norm. I am not 100% certain what the Chinese people actually use in their homes (or even what they call these potties) but in most all of the public places these are what they use. (even on moving trains!-- In my opinion that ability would demonstrate real talent) I have learned from reading my various message boards that it does infact take both practice and coordination to use these potties. Click on the link below for a brief inservice on the use of squattie potties.

NANCY- You better take notes!!! :D....................................................................

UH-OH EBAY

Today I made Abby's first eBay purchase. I just recently figured out what my eBay and paypal passwords were...I forgot how addicting it can be. She really has plenty of clothes already but I am always looking for more cute outfits. Mom if your reading this these outfits REALLY were a bargain. All three were new with tags and totaled around $125.00. I did not even pay close to half of that! I especially love the first outfit with the flower stem leading to the flower petals collar. You can't see in the picture but there is a butterfly on the left side of the collar. Okay I am cutting my self off!.......At least until next week :O

Waiting............

Each night I am on line reading others adoption stories. There are many all over the web. Hearing of others experiences and especially seeing others pictures has helped to make the wait more bearable for me. I'm hoping their parents won't mind me posting these pictures of their adorable children.
