Homestudy update done

My Homestudy update today was quick and painless. All in all I would say our meeting was 15 or 20 minutes long. Wow 500 dollars for that????? I think I may be in the wrong profession. I also told her that I had been thinking about moving. Still in my neighborhood but into a house verses the condo I currently live in. I really want a yard. So I asked her if it would be another 500 dollars to update my homestudy again for the move. She said, " Oh no! It would only be 300 dollars for that." ????????? Again I think I am in the wrong profession.

As far as any new info that I was able to get out of her...... Not so much! She told me that right now the wait for China referral was running around 11 (I don't think so) to 14 months (duh). I asked her to clarify some of the rumors that I had heard. She hadn't heard or didn't think the wait would go to 2 years. She hadn't heard that China was going to close down to singles but did seem to think that they were going to lower the quota for singles. She did not seem to know why the wait has gotten so long either but did tell me that It seemed like China was getting pickier with their approval process. With that being said though I wouldn't count on any of that being accurate. She is on the ditzy side. She thought I already had my referral! HELLO!!!!

Anyway one more bridge crossed! Now on to my refingerprints.

Oy! Sorry you had such a dinger! Doesn't seem like much reliable info....just a $500 rubber stamp. And this isn't about the money they say????

Yikes! That's a lot of $$!

I felt that with both of the SWs I talked to in my paperchase, that neither of them were well-informed about what was happening with the process in China. I think most of them are more up-to-date on local/state laws re: adoption.

That's why I get all my information from RQ!

YAY! You got it done!! I'm dreading the re-cleaning. Kind of letting it all pile up for the big overhaul in late November. SOOO envious you've checked it off! My SW is kinda similar to yours! I can't believe she thought you had your referral!! COME ON!! That's kind of basic knowledge. I think she's just keeping up with the latest edition of Adoptive Families. 11-14 months. Oh how we'd all love to lean towards the 11 month side! Hang in there!

Sorry you had an idiot SW. But, mine wasn't any better. On my homestudy I had this idiot guy for the SW who wanted to me to draw a family tree and then crossed out the adopted people in the family!!! Then he proceded to tell me that the reason I hadn't found a husband was that I was too picky and I should really try internet dating 'cause it had worked for some guy he knew. Needless to say...that guy WON'T be doing my post-placement study! Wouldn't let him within 100 ft of Lilly!

I know, can you believe how much money these people make, if I would have known that at school..I might have changed my career choice!

Home study! Yuck! See why the children in need are still in need! It is idiots like these SW who think they are all knowing that cause more emotion damage to families and children. To Carrie, to bad you couldnt have said to your SW that if you were too picky you surely wouldnt have HIM standing in your presence... What a JERK.
Guys know that your time is coming I am praying for the process to speed up for you all.

Well at least it's over. And just to think it'll only be $300 next time(note sarcasim)..you're right, you're in the wrong profession. I've seriously thought about changing professions when all this is done. I'm glad you got it done. One less headache. We'll be doing this soon too.
