In loving memory

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.

His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

My sister and her family lost a beloved member today. Miss Madeline (shown above opening her Christmas stocking) was her Mommy's girl and first baby. What a good girl she was and we will all miss her. Cancer took her away she had multiple myeloma. Please say a prayer for them and for Maddy...........

Man it just breaks my heart... I don't know your sister or their dog, but I know that that kind of love is something born of heaven, and it's such a tremendous loss. For sure I will pray for them and for Maddy, though I suspect she is running happily free of cancer at last.

I'm so sorry.

We lost our 11 yr. old yellow lab in 2003 to cancer. They become just like our children...a member of the family. Every moment with them is worth it even though we know we'll probably outlive them and have to feel that pain. My heart goes out to those having to say goodbye~for now~to a very good old friend.

She held a place in all of our hearts. No matter how long between visits she always remembered us. I'm sure she has now joined up with Tarby. I share your pain. Love you all, Mom

I was so sad when I read this post. First I cried then I thought of all the memories of Maddy over the years. She was a Mommy's girl! I will miss you sweet Maddy! Too many lives lost to cancer! :(

Much love and prayers to Chris, Laurie, Christopher and Erin

I am so saddened by this news. For the past 10-11 years I've had a picture of Maddy and Ali on my desk at work. Ali is hugging Maddy in her Stawberry Shortcake nightgown. This had to be taken when L&C were living in the condo. It's one of my old time favorite pics.

Here's to the "twinklebells" Dear Maddy.

Love,
Aunt Debbie

Time helps.

so sorry for your sisters loss. I've never had a pet take away from cancer but I've had parents taken by it. It's awful any way you look at it!

((hugs)) to them

Ali was in the Strawberry Shortcake pj's, not Maddy. ;-) Blame the poor sentence structure on Monday mornings and sad news

Jenny,
I don't have Laurie's email address, but I hope she reads this comment, and I know you loved Madeline too and will appreciate this.
I loved Maddy a lot! I remember playing with her when I was a very little girl and thinking she was the most beautiful dog in the world. I even remember right before Laurie and Chris got married. I was so excited to be their flower girl, and I had so much fun playing with Miss Maddy.
Every time one of the dogs passes away down in Virginia, I miss them so much. Bernie, Tarby, Baron, and now Maddy. I loved them all and will always remember them.
love,
Ali

I'm so sorry that Maddy is no longer with her family. It breaks my heart everytime I read about someones loss. Not everyone knows how incrediblly heard it it when a beloved pet has passed. I'm sending lots of hugs and prayers. I'll also tell my little angel Alex (alexandra) to go find her and keep her company! Big hugs. Stephe

I just found out last night from sandwiched in, I haven't been faithful to blogs lately, computers hurt my back. Both Uncle Sandy and I are sorry, and sad, we had such a hard time saying good bye to our kitties, Maddy was a wonderful gentle soul, I found a book at our vets called Dog heaven by Cynthia Rylant, it's similar to what Jenny put in about the rainbow bridge. But very comforting. I own Cat heaven and have shared it often with clients awhen they lose a pet friend. love Aunt Laurie
