Shower Pictures!

Thank you all for your encouraging comments with my last post! Last minute jitters seem to be the norm! I know everything will work out but it wouldn't be me if I didn't worry :)

Finally I am posting my shower pictures. It was a wonderful day hosted by my Mom, Sisters Laurie and Kelli and Sister in law Elizabeth. Below was the beverage of choice at the shower. Cranberry martinis! Yummy :) Thank you Elizabeth you did a great job making and keeping up with the demand!

Some of the decorations. Thank you Kelly for finding them! We had the shower at Abby's Meema's. Thank you Meema :)

Hard to tell in the picture but they are little Asian light up lanterns.

Beautiful Cakes made to order per my Mom's idea! Thank you Mom :) They were yummy!

The cakes passed Janie's test :) (I stole this photo from Shannon's blog)

It was a wonderful spread. Mom, Laurie , Kelly, and Elizabeth did good. I hear everything was delicious. Unfortunately I really did not have time to eat though.

Look! It's Shannon :)

Getting ready to open gifts.

Everyone was so thoughtful and generous! Abby received some wonderful gifts :)

The treat everyone got to bring home :) (This photo came from Shannon's blog too!)

My sister Laurie spent a lot of time planning the shower. She was responsible for the treats above. See how the fortune cookie has Abby's picture on it? The red thread bracelet is for everyone to wear while we are in China and don't you just love the ladybug wine stopper :) Thank you Laurie! All of the stress you experienced planning the shower was well worth it! It was a wonderful and so very special day for me! Below is Laurie.

Wonderful presents for Abby!

That's all I had on my camera. Not too many but I am waiting to receive more pictures from the paparazzi :) Shannon has some posted on her blog as well :)

Very cute stuff. And I'm game for any baby shower that serves alcohol! LOL!

When my times comes, there will be an open bar. Maybe we'll even have jello shot appetizers. :P

Jenny,

What a lovely shower! I'm so excited for you, how well I remember the days leading up to Katie day! You'll be fine, just remember to breathe.

If you don't have some already, you might take something to help you sleep -- especially on the plane, but also the night before you meet Abby. I'm not usually a fan of drugs, but believe me, they can be very helpful at certain times!

One thing, you might want a front carrier instead of the hip hammock thing. Katie was big (nearly 20 lbs) but too little for the hip thing. We'd have preferred the front carrier for her. I doubt your Abby will be much bigger than Katie was.

I didn't get around to signing your shower guest book. So sorry. If I had, I'd have said

"Congratulations, Mama! Your life will never be the same with the addition of your sweet Abby. I wish for the two of you to have grand adventures in the upcoming years and to appreciate the little things in life.

Please don't stress about keeping your house clean or the things you "must" do -- Abby will have different plans and she will be grown before you know it, so ignore your schedule and try to capture a more relaxed approach to life. You'll soon have two little eyes watching every move you make, copying your every expression and word. You'll be surprised at what she sees and what she mimics, but she will have learned it from you.

Enjoy your trip to China. It's a fascinating place, full of wonderful people and extreme beauty and poverty. It will change you. Let it."

You can tell a lot of work and preparation went into the planning of the shower. It turned out beautiful!

So excited for your big day!
I agree about taking something to help you sleep. I didn't need it but was glad I had it, others did need it. You can't go into baby day all jet lagged.
I kept my money (ironed) in snack sized ziplocks with cardboard to keep it stiff. I had it all divided and sticky notes in each section. As if getting your baby isn't nerve racking enough!
I am so glad you had such a fun shower.
You will LOVE the hip hammock and so will she.
I felt the same way on the bottle isle at BRU, almost passed out. You can buy bottles right there on Shamian Island. It will all work out. I used Venti-Aire on the advise of a ped who is also a chinese adoptive mom. We loved them.

Dear Jenny,
I am so excited for you. What a wonderful shower. I was inches away from coming down, but reality took over. We'll be down to meet Abby for sure!

I wish you all the best on your journey to China. You can bet we'll be watching the blog news. We will share it with Bama. I don't think she gets on the computer much.

You know you have all the love and support from up north. Wendy, Alison, Todd, Uncle Terry, Bama, Aunt Laurie and all the cousins have been waiting and praying for this moment when your baby is FINALLY placed in your loving arms. You will be a terrific mom. Abby is a very fortunate little girl to be so loved for so long.

It is amazing she will be placed in your arms on Meema's birthday. You just can't plan that kind of miracle.

Bless you all. Have a wonderful trip. Take LOTS of pictures (more than you did at your shower) ;-)

Love,
Aunt Debbie and Uncle Terry and all the relatives from Central and Northern NY.

It truly was a wonderful shower! I'm sure it was a crazy day for you with so much excitement as well as being under the weather. Still, I guess a general craziness is what's in store for you from now on! Gotta love it! =)
