Its me this time!

So sorry folks about the late bon voyage post I just ran out of time! I was literally doing stuff right up to the last minute. Luckily Mom and Hugh were about 90 minutes late (I was counting on that). We made it to the airport in time but our flight was delayed from 540 pm to 7pm and we did not actually take off till around 7:30 pm. No worries though cause our flight doesn't leave until 1am. And yes we for to Sol Korea then to Beijing. Here are my suitcases ready to go. I ended up checking them both and was still taking stuff out up to the last minute.

This handy dandy backpack I got from Babies r us. It is full and a heavy Mother! It has my laptop, video camera, camera, all of the connector thingies plus my paperwork. And some reading material, make up and a change of clothes just in case. I carried it on the plane and it was so packed it would not go under the seat. They were going to make me check it but then just let me take the laptop out and hold it. Then it fit under the seat and the bag was much ighter. We deplaned onto the tar mat in Chicago. 16 degrees and snow! I felt bad for my Mom so I offered to take her carry on for her, small rolling bag, plus my 5 ton pound backpack. I made it in before them ans was still holding my laptop in my arms. As we came off the escalator..... You guessed it! I ate it huge. My Moms rolling bag would not come off an I could feel the laptop slipping. All I could think of was don't let it hit the floor. Then the 5 ton backpack had me way off balance. I fell on my knees scattering everything. Of course there were tons of people behind me including my Mom. So of course I went down! (I am laughing while I type this) Think 20 car pile up. Those poor people behind me had no where to go but down. I am okay but was laughing so hard I was crying! Sorry no photos!

The last photo is me having a well deserved beer! Yummy!

So the next time I post will be from China Wahoo! Thank you everyone. Those of you that called or emailed messages I am sorry I could not get back to you!
Pray we make it safely, I have had .5 of ativan and 1 glass of wine plus took some Tylenol PM. I am bound and determined to sleep on the plane!
And Thank you Laurie! Great guest poster! I never could get light up things on my posts! Go ahead sister! Hug the kids for me, We will be back before you know it!

I'm laughing but wincing for you all at the same time! You poor thing! Hope you didn't get a wet bum! I'm assuming the laptop is ok, since you're posting! That would totally suck, if you busted your laptop before even leaving USA!!! Then having to lug it all over China!

Sweet Dreams, my friend... you deserve it!

Never a dull moment! Can just imagine the site at the bottom of the escalator and since you're ok must admit to some smiling and chuckling after I read you were ok! Phew....quite the way to start your trip.

Sounds like you travel like I do! Hmmmm...now it's about Abby's stuff for the return trip. Is it 'wrong' to put a backpack on her too? ;o)

Safe trip and we'll catch up with you in CHINA!!!

OH MY!!! I'm glad you're ok. Taking a trip - I guess you took it literally.

On the next run to the gates in the airport get someone to escort you all. Bad knees, excitement, exhaustion, baby in arms not a laptop, plus MORE luggage take the help that's available.

Love,
Aunt Debbie

Airport story...priceless!! It's so good to be able to laugh at yourself and I'm sure after all the anxiety leading up to this, it was a relief to just laugh.
