Ok...now for the details...

Hi blog buddies!!! I am in love with this child!!!!! I could here her on the phone and it's killing me that i'm not with them. In due time. Jenny, Mom, and Hugh traveled to Nanchung on jan 6 (2 days ago their time). She was supposed to get abby at 3:30 but got her about 6. Evidently there were only two families getting their babies. Meema spotted her first. Yes, there were tears. Both the babies are named abby. They call abby "abby 1" as she is three weeks older than "abby 2". their guide, sissy, is amazing. as i mentioned earlier, still no luggage. the airline is giving them the run around about where it actually is. on "gotch day" jenny was fretting about what she needed and sissy told her all she needed to worry about was getting herself ready. she went to wallmart for her and got her things for abby as well as a cake and presents for mom! It is clearly evident that jenny has easily transitioned into the roll of "mommy". i swear i got the breast feeding milk let down sensation when i was listening to the two of them communicate on the phone (i know-wierd huh?!?). abby has made the transition beautifully and is happy!!!!!! she was fostered for two monthes as an infant and was "the favorite" in the orphanage. abby 2 was her room mate. oohhh-jenny said i had to tell you all she's pooped already!!!! i guess a huge deal for these babies in transition. she's in excellent condition and is only dealing with a little diaper rash. As expected from her predeccesors (sp), she's feisty! they went to pizza hut with abby 2 and her parents and she was wide open. her personality is emerging at warp speed. she's sweet and nurturing. on a bus ride after getting the babies abby 2 was crying and abby reached back and gave her one of her stacking cups. AAWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! during dinner at pizza hut abby noticed the referral necklace given to jenny by julie and pointed to it and said "baby" in chinese. jenny said she does a lot of jibber jabbing talking. she's facsinated by hugh and he was the first to get her to smile. jenny was given a porcelin pen holder and jade laughing budda by the director of the orphanage. Abby drinks well from her sippy cup and loves her stacking cups and walks while holding one finger. jenny thinks she may have a little cold. they will be in nanchung until friday than guanjo(sp) until they leave on wednesday. oh-jenny said to tell those who've made the trip she did almost vomit in the cab in nanchung. she said they are absolutely crazy driving in nanchung compared to bejing. lets see what else........a huuuuuuuuuuge thank you from her for your love and support and yes (like i said, delayed gratification is not a trait of ours) she has been trying everything to communicate and apologizes for not doing so sooner. it was killing her to not be able to share her abby with all of us. she was getting ready to give abby her first bath and then feed her and then put her to bed. After that she was going to get to work on getting out more picture. sorry this was so fragmented. i think i covered it all. oh, meema said she's a scrappy little thing and will definitly hold her own with her cousins!!!!!!!!!
more as soon as i get it-i promise!!!!
woo hoooooooooooo!!

Aunt Laurie, you are doing just a great job posting in Jenny's absense (or inability to do so from China) Sweet Abby is just that.. absolutely a sweetie peetie. I'm so glad the transition is going well. I'll continue to pray for the luggage to arrive soon but it just goes to show anyone who hasn't traveled yet... you really do NOT need as much as you think you need! Seriously.. those Carry on only people have it right. :0)

Aunt Laurie....your updates are wonderful! Jenny...so glad to hear you and Abby are doing great.....I think we had the same guide in Nanchang....CeCe?......she is the best....! I laughed when I read your post about the cab ride in Nanchang.....when you get home....there is a small video on YouTube.com of a street scene shot from a hotel room in Nanchang. The video is set to KungFu Fighting! It is very fun to watch.....you feel like you are on pins and needles hoping that no one gets hit! Can't wait to see pictures of the two of you together! Have a great day!

Laurie: thanks for the posts...we really appreciate it!!

Jenny: Congratulations, she is absolutely adorable...Jainy and I reallllly can't wait for our play date! :)

As far as the driving conditions, I know what you mean...when we were in Hubei we followed the old saying: 'When in Rome...Try not to get run over! (Or something like that!) It literally felt like one huge game of Frogger! ha!

So, enjoy the rest of your trip, send pictures when you can, and give that baby a hug for me.

Congrats!

Jenny,
We're not even hiding it anymore, the blog is kept on several of the computers at work and EVERYONE is fascinated with the news as it trickles in. This is better than someone giving birth! No scrunchy faced wrinkled baby, just a beautiful glowing bright eyed little angel! We can't wait to see her in person!

what great news to hear!! And I can completely understand the driving issues too... one thing I learned when I was in China was to close my eyes while in a taxi because I could not watch the way the driver was handling the roads, it was too scary! And then trying to be a pedestrian crossing the street in front of our hotel... OMG. And I was in ChengDu at the time, so it sounds the same throughout the country!

Abby is truly a beautiful baby!!
